We get asked dozens of questions every day by inquisitive parents, and we’re happy to answer them! Whatever you want to know about your child’s dental care, we’re always ready to tell you more about it. You can find answers to some of the most popular questions by reading through the FAQs below, but feel free to give us a call anytime if there is something else you’d like to ask.
When should my child go to the dentist for the first time?
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment as soon as their first tooth appears, or by their first birthday—whichever one comes first! This initial appointment will not only introduce you both to our practice, but we’ll be able to make sure everything is developing correctly for your child, plus we can give you tips on how to care for your brand new smile.
When should my child visit the orthodontist for the first time?
It’s best if a child receives an orthodontic evaluation around the age of 7. At this point, Dr. Helfrich will be able to assess any current alignment issues your child might have and also spot signs of others that could develop in the future. She cannot only recommend treatment but the perfect time to begin treatment as well to ensure the shortest and most effective experience.
My child is really nervous about visiting the dentist…can you help?
Yes! Our team is not only very friendly and understanding, but we can also offer sedation dentistry for fearful children who need a little help relaxing in the office. With nitrous oxide, all they need to do is inhale an odorless gas to make those pesky nerves melt away.
My child has a severe toothache. What should I do?
Give us a call and have your child take an OTC medication. You can also place a cold compress on their face to reduce any discomfort. We’ll walk you through additional tips on the phone, and we can even schedule an emergency appointment so we can relieve their pain right away.
Do you accept children with special needs?
Yes, absolutely every child is welcome through our doors, including those with mental, physical, and sensory special needs. We’re willing to work with parents to make any accommodations necessary so it’s easy for their children to get the high-quality dental care they deserve.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Yes, we are a very “insurance-friendly” practice and accept virtually all PPO plans. Want to know how we can use your specific policy to help you save at your child’s next appointment? Give our helpful team a call today!
Is financing available?
